Did BoC release new music today?

That's the name of a Twitter account I ran from March 30th, 2022 to October 9th, 2026.

On this account, I either tweeted "Yes." or "No." as an update to whether Boards of Canada had released any new music that day. As you can probably imagine, most days I posted "No."

I never let it be known (outside of a few close friends) that I ran this account, and I never did anything to advertise it. I logged into this account nearly every day for four years to tweet "No."

That was until it was reported for "inauthentic behaviors" and suspended on 2026-10-09. What behaviours of mine were thought to be inauthentic, I don't know. But, I'm frankly glad this happened. It was actually very draining logging in every day and having to read at least one tweet, which was pretty much always bait - rage and/or engagement.

After finally being able to send a yes on April 16th, 2026 (The day Boards of Canada dropped their infamous Tape 05 video), I had been struggling to think of a (funny) way to end the account. Ultimately, I figured the funniest thing I could do was to simply continue... At least until I could come up with an official ending. I have the option to appeal the suspension, but I've decided I don't want to. Instead, I think it being suspended is probably the funniest way it could end.

I had abandoned my main Twitter account back in October 2024, and now I can finally leave Twitter all together.

Now, you may notice that the amount of tweets on the account is 1,445, which is less than 1,654 (the amount of days between 2022-03-30 and 2026-10-09). I admit I did miss a fair few days across the account's four-year run. In total I missed 209 days (or 12.6%). Most of these were Saturdays and Sundays, which is understandable as I am typically away from my computer on weekends.

A few times - while away on a trip - I had set up a batch of scheduled tweets to go out at noon each day so I didn't have to worry about it while vacationing. In hindsight, I realize I could have made a bot run the account every day, but I just didn't want to bother with doing that when it took so little effort from me already.

Besides the 1,440 nos, I got to send four yeses and one kinda:

Goodbye to this account, and good riddance to Twitter.
