Four acid machinations destined to fill you with holiday cheer, seasonal depression, or both. This EP was put together simply to have something to release near the end of 2024. I don't mean to imply these songs are filler, as I still think Calvervtutrp is one of the best songs I've ever made. These tracks probably wouldn't have ended up anywhere else had I not released this though. It's a fun little EP. Acid is incredibly fun to make, and shockingly easy to make sound good.
While I was in Australia during March and April 2024, I bought a Behringer TD-3 bassline synthesizer. It's no 303 but I figured it was about time I had an analog acid machine. As soon as I got back home, I started making tracks. Between 2024-04-29 and 2024-05-03 I made seven different songs using the TD-3 as a basis. One was Fog of War, which ended up on my album Swim. Another ended up on Zesty Claus as Suck Brick Kid. The other five were all at one point in consideration for Zesty Claus but were cut.
Nothing in relation to this project happened until September, when I reworked an older song of mine from June 2022 that sampled the Seinfeld theme song. Originally I used a digital acid VST, but I took the opportunity to replace it with the TD-3. I also cleaned up a few other parts and improved the mixing. This obviously would eventually become Seinta Claus.
On 2024-10-23, I added an acid bassline to a track I made back in August, and thus the song Calvervtutrp was born. After this, I looked back at all the acid songs I'd made this year and had the idea to put together an EP. Before now the songs were all unconnected. I pretty quickly imagined what I wanted the artwork to be, and asked my then-boyfriend, now-husband if he'd like to draw the art. I imagined the art as a cross between Santa Claus from Pilotredsun's Grinch's Ultimatum and Jerry Seinfeld from u m a m i's Seinfeld Expands. Later that day I sent the tracks to demo sphere, whose only suggestion was to reverse the tracklist order. I agreed and did so.
Niski had once again agreed to master, and by the end of November, it was finished. The artwork was finished on 2024-12-12, and the EP released on Christmas Day 2024.
